"stop waiting for Friday, for summer, for better weather, for someone to fall in love with you, for the right moment, for life. happiness is achieved when you stop waiting for it and makes the most of the moment you are in now." - anonymous
we saw this quote recently and it's an important reminder to stop "wishing" our lives away... so often we all do this and before you know it those moments are gone. here's to being in the now!

gloucester, massachusetts is a special place. it was the location of one of the very first projects paula and i did together when starting cronin hill photography. we were commissioned to shoot lighthouses up and down the east coast for a series of books in the late 90's. it was an exciting time. navigating, traveling, and visiting each location was like the goonie's treasure map and finding one-eyed willie's gold. we loved our two year adventure and gloucester was a huge part of it.
i personally have another connection to the historic seaport. when i was very young my father would go deep sea fishing and he would return with coolers full of fresh cod, haddock, mackerel, and sometimes cusk. his van (loaded with ten guys in the back) would pull into the driveway and all would come piling out like a clown car at a circus. he would hug us after his two to three day stint, thirty to sixty miles out to sea, and he would smell like the ocean itself. the stories he told my mother I wouldn't really understand until later, but i knew even at an early age that i wanted to be part of his adventures. he kept his promise and in my early teens, for several years after and many trips later, i experienced gloucester and all that it had to offer. it taught me respect of the water and an appreciation for the captains and crews who guided us.
one of our favorite quotes about gloucester comes from the movie the perfect storm. captain billy tyne, played by george clooney, describes so elegantly his love of the job. it instantly takes us back.
"the fog's just lifting. throw off your bow line; throw off your stern. you head out to south channel, past rocky neck, ten pound island. past niles pond where I skated as a kid. blow your air-horn and throw a wave to the lighthouse keeper's kid on thatcher island. then the birds show up: black backs, herring gulls, big dumb ducks. the sun hits ya - head north. open up to 12 - steamin' now. the guys are busy; you're in charge. ya know what? you're a goddamn swordboat captain. is there any thing better in the world?" - captain billy tyne, andrea gail, the perfect storm
paula and rick have been photographing weddings and events for many years, some here, some there, and seems like just about everywhere. this weblog will chronicle their adventures in love, happiness, and starbucks.
